Despite being the vice president for five years, Joe Biden’s popularity among Democrats ranks lower than that of Hillary Clinton, according to a new national poll conducted by the Saint Leo University Polling Institute.

Clinton’s favorability among Democrats reached 90 percent, with just 6 percent of Democrats holding an unfavorable view of her. Among Democratic likely voters, 87 percent said they could support Clinton if she were to seek the Democratic nomination. Among all likely voters, Clinton’s favorability rating is 62 percent favorable to 36 percent unfavorable. Even 28 percent of Republicans favor Clinton.

“Almost every Democrat likes Hillary, even many independents like her and some Republicans,” said Frank Orlando, instructor of political science at Saint Leo University in Saint Leo, FL. “She’s overwhelmingly more visible than even Joe Biden.”

Democrats approve of Joe Biden 79/12 with 44 percent citing they would back him should he run in 2016. Among likely voters, Biden’s favorability is 51 percent favorable to 43 percent unfavorable.

The online survey of 1002 adults was conducted December 1-6 and has a margin of error of about three percent.
